This Privacy Policy explains how Fair Math, Inc. ("Fair Math", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use the FHERMA platform at fherma.io (the "Platform"). Fair Math is a Delaware corporation with its registered office at 1111B South Governors Avenue, Dover, Delaware 19904, United States, and is the controller of the personal data described here.
If you have any questions, contact us at privacy@fairmath.xyz.
Data we collect
Account data. When you register we collect your email address, username, and password (stored only as a salted hash). You may optionally add a display name, affiliation, headline, location, avatar, biography, and profile links.
Content you submit. Kernel specifications, implementations, benchmark artifacts, challenge submissions, reviews, and discussion posts, together with the repository or registry locations you point us to.
Technical and usage data. IP address, browser and device information, and server logs generated when you use the Platform, kept for security, abuse prevention, and diagnostics.
Cookies. Strictly necessary cookies that keep you signed in and remember your preferences, and — only with your consent — analytics cookies. See the Cookie & Legal Notice for the full list.
We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and the Platform is not directed to children.
How we use your data
We use personal data to:
- create and administer your account and authenticate you;
- operate the Platform and run Challenges, including scoring, review, and publishing results and attributions;
- process and validate compensation for qualifying solutions;
- secure the Platform, prevent abuse, and diagnose problems;
- communicate with you about your account, submissions, and service changes; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
Published work on the Platform — specifications, implementations, and executions — is public and permanently attributed to its author. Do not submit anything under a name you do not want shown.
Legal bases (EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (to provide the Platform); our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Platform and prevent abuse); your consent (for analytics cookies and any optional communications); and compliance with legal obligations.
Sharing your data
We share personal data only as needed:
- Service providers who host, secure, and operate the Platform on our behalf, and payment providers who process compensation, under contract;
- Measurement runners that execute submitted work in the environment a Challenge defines — these are trusted operators acting as part of the platform backend;
- Legal and safety disclosures where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Platform.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
International transfers
Fair Math is based in the United States and your data may be processed there and in other countries where our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers out of the EEA/UK.
Retention
We keep account data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Platform, then delete or anonymise it unless a longer period is required by law or to resolve disputes and enforce agreements. Published, attributed contributions may remain part of the public record.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data; to restrict or object to certain processing; and to withdraw consent at any time. California residents have the rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" under the CCPA/CPRA — we do not sell or share personal data as those terms are defined. To exercise any right, email privacy@fairmath.xyz; we will respond as required by applicable law. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Security
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always posted here, with the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be notified by reasonable means.
